The LAND Board of Directors oversees the operations of LAND to ensure it is fulfilling its mission. Our board members are very active in the daily operations of LAND through participation and volunteering in scheduled activities, making financial contributions, and seeking funding opportunities for the organization.
Board Members
Susanne Johnson has held the position of president of the Board of Directors for LAND since its inception in March 2006. Susanne earned a MBA from Babson College in 1994 and a BA from Dartmouth College in 1983. She is currently the Head of School at the Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences, an innovative preschool through 8th grade education that integrates the humanities, arts, math, and science. Located in the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve, Barnesville School is certified as a Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education, demonstrating achievement in curriculum and instruction, community partnerships, and best management practices. Susanne has been in the Barnesville School community since 2000. Prior to becoming an employee in 2009, she was actively involved in leadership roles with the Barnesville School Board of Directors, having served in a variety of key positions, including secretary, chair of the development committee, chair of the diversity task force, and member of the executive, governance, nominating, marketing, and finance committees. Additionally, she has chaired both the athletics committee and the alumni trustee nominating and search committee within the Dartmouth College Alumni Council. Her work with LAND centers on leading its Board of Directors, assisting with fundraising activities, and providing support for volunteer projects.
David Trybus serves as vice president of LAND’s Board of Directors and has held that position since LAND’s founding in March 2006. Dave is the Director of Procurement & Logistics with Arata Expositions, Inc. and has worked with the company since 2003. Additionally, he has also served on the Board of Directors for the Echo Hill Campership Fund. Dave is a member of the Frederick County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. In his work with LAND he participates in much of the fundraising efforts, board decision-making, volunteer projects, and site work.
Meghan (Meg) McBride Fultz serves as Board secretary and treasurer. Meg has been a member of the Board member since 2008. She brings a wide and varying background of interests and skills. Meg was a computer analyst for a worldwide company specializing in healthcare applications. She is also the Mom to 5 children, two of whom are graduates of the Global Ecology Studies Program at Poolesville High School. Meg has served as an officer with the FFA (Future Farmers of America), participated in cattle judging, is skilled in animal husbandry (rabbits), and has taken several horticulture classes. Meg is very hands on participating in LAND’s after-school clubs, Earth Day events, and field trips.
