Earth Day cleanup at Monocacy Elementary

Earth Day Activities at our local schools

LAND is very proud of our school based Earth Day Projects. We organize school wide landscape clean ups and enhancements. At the elementary schools every student, in every grade, participates in age appropriate activities. Each class rotates through, accomplishing various projects such as weeding, mulching, and planting flowers.  LAND partners with Covanta Energy in Dickerson to carry out Earth Day events at both Monocacy and Poolesville elementary schools.  In addition to generously covering the costs of materials, Covanta volunteers join us at the schools assisting the students with their projects.

The Earth Day project at John Poole Middle School takes place during science class for all 6th graders. Over the last 10 years we have helped the students transform a barren school front into a flourishing landscape. The students clean out beds, spread mulch, plant flowers, and complete other tasks to enhance the appearance of their school.

We look forward to adding more schools and working with more students. Please contact LAND to get more information about bringing an Earth Day event to your school.
